I agree that there should be something to come from the votes...However I can't agree that the current system provokes short quick responses. No matter how many posts you have you can't view Marketplace until you have been here 6 months. I rarely post here, but I have gone way over the minimum number of posts, and I still have another month to wait.
Rarely? I wouldn't consider over5 posts a day rare

I don't really get this... You already pay fees for the data - why do they care for how you use it?Because you then sign a contract that says how you agree to use it. This is outside of that agreement. If you want to sign an agreement to use the data in a different way, I'm sure the carrier will accommodate you. But get your wallet open.

Google at least only stores the last 50 cell towers and 200 wifi compared to Apple which keeps all of it locally.

Best Buy knows who D:apple:ddy is... They know who's keeping that company afloat and relevant in todays chaotic economy.
They wouldn't do anything to jeopardize a business relationship they NEED.
Again they know who D:apple:ddy is.
You really don't think that do you. I've been to Best Buy and the apple products they sell are a tiny amount of their sales. Get real. I'm sure they care, but I'm betting that they wouldn't go out of business or even notice if Apple pulled all of their product from their stores. I'm betting that it would affect Apple though.

Gartner has released preliminary market share (http://www.gartner.com/it/page.jsp?id=497290) numbers for 3Q 2006 (calendar, Apple's financial 4Q) which show Apple seeing substantial industry growth at 1.5%. Apple now ships 6.1% of all U.S. "PCs", 4th in the industry behind Gateway (6.4%), HP (23%), and Dell (32.1%). Apple did not place in the top-5 in worldwide PC shipments, so that data was not available.
Gartner notes that the overall U.S. PC market actually experienced a 2% decline year-over-year, so that coupled with Apple's announcment of a 30% growth in Mac shipments last quarter (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061018172455.shtml) helps explain the dramatic growth.
"Two factors that contributed to the poor performance in the U.S. market were continued weakness in the professional desk-based market, and the carry-over effect from strong sales in the second quarter. Strong sales to the home market, fueled by solid back to school sales and mobile PCs could not offset the decline in other areas." -- Mikako Kitagawa, principal analyst for Gartner Dataquest’s Client Computing Markets Group.
Apple indicated yesterday that while reaction to the Mac Pro has been positive, the professional community may be holding off until an Intel-native Creative Suite ships (expected spring 2007 (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060918153507.shtml)). On the flip side, a recent article in a Princeton University newspaper (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061014120137.shtml) indicates that Apple is indeed doing very well in the growing education market.
Recent research (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061017115015.shtml) has indicated that Apple is poised to grab even more "switchers" this holiday season, which promises to translate into even more market share.
Of interest, Dell has consistently been losing market share to rival HP in both U.S. and Worldwide markets, and HP took the #1 spot on the Worldwide market with 16.3% compared to Dell's 16.1%.

This is a little ridiculous. Is it really a big deal to answer simple questions about firearms? Gun owners should be happy to answer questions about their safety practices. It should also be perfectly reasonable to simply decline to answer those questions.

I guess it's a good thing that I've given up hope that America will give up it's gun obsession.
Since as you say, there are no possible solutions.
Look at the "drug war". Do you really want a "gun war"? Really?
The answer with things like this, as always, lies in regulation and education- not bans. We can minimize the problem, but it will never go away.

Good. Now we're getting somewhere.
Please, enlighten me .. what is the difference between the countdown-timer and NSTimer?
Let me ask you this: what do you think the difference is?
I though you must use NSTimer to get a countdown or count up timer.
Using an NSTimer is certainly a common approach to the problem of modeling a countdown timer, but it's certainly not the only one. Because the timer is tied to the main run loop, it is not guaranteed to actually fire every second (in your case). In that case, perhaps the use of NSDate to keep track of seconds elapsed would be a better approach.

And why is this on mac rumors.
Does it really matter what the competition does.
It shows you how superior their open os is. Because if it wasn't open it would be controlled by evil Apple who would force you to use tethering.

Haha, nope.
This is the company that released an EDGE phone as it's first model. No way they're jumping to LTE this early in the game.
Okay? But what 3G competition was out there at the time? There was no Android at that time. The iPhone was competing with Blackberry, and it was a MAJORLY different device. Now they HAVE to compete, so they HAVE to advance. Look for LTE in the next iPhone.

You do realize that Mord is transgendered, right? Why not listen to someone who's actually been there for as change?
Because it is not material to my point.... In the slightest....
Another analogy: "I am a basketball player. A regulation basketball weighs 96 pounds. I am right, because I am a basketball player and you are not."
Silly? Yes.
Because sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "La… La…*la…" is so much easier.
Really? I provided a source backing my point. How, exactly, is that going "la la la la"?

U sure it was broke? not just your sloooooooowwwwwwww dial-up connection? ;)
Oh, we broke it alright. Hey, I used to play Quake against a mate on a 33.6k dial-up connection and it did just fine....
At least my dial-up connection isn't all snobby like your high-speed connection. Mine's got it's feet firmly planted on the ground. Well, it's up to it's hips in mud really. I hate dial-up.

About 2 months ago I paid an early termination fee and gave up my iPhone because of the dropped calls. I have a Blackberry on Verizon, and consume about 800 minutes a month (peak times, not nights and weekends) and close to 200MB of bandwidth.
I have not had a single dropped call. I can also finally browse the web without Safari crashing all the time.
I would not call looking at the web on a blackberry surfing. It is more like wading in a kiddie pool.
