 Looks like the beginnings of NASCAR styled advertising that is blasted everywhere.

I can see it being more of a hinderance in the main news threads, however for the question threads in the main forum it could be beneficial to highlight the most 'popular' answer.

I find it hilarious that Steve Jobs claimed Apple was not tracking users, but now all of a sudden we find Location tracking being completely removed from this version of iOS, that is honestly something that annoyes me..
Still haven't seen a single post from you that had any backing or even knowledge of anything. Just how young are you, anyway?
is there any way we can view our own tracked info. it would be cool to see where i have been.
You can't remember? Was there a lot of alcohol?
I know I'm late in this thread.. but, the supposed battery life improvements, is that simply the result of iOS no longer tracking so much information? Or is it the result of real unrelated improvements?
There have been unrelated complaints about battery life since 4.3 came out, and for the entire existence of the Verizon version. Maybe they've finally addressed that.
This is the point. It doesn't matter which side of the coin you're on regarding privacy. Off means off. On means on.
This is the ONLY reasonable issue, and it hardly matters. All the rest is Apple hating and stupidity. Congrats on the side you've chosen.
Name one manufacturer of consumer electronics who does ALL of their manufacturing in the continental USA.
SVSound speaker company. Although they source components from elsewhere.
We kind of liked the fact that we could look at where you've been with your iPhone, too.
Signed,
Mr. Mugger, Mr. Thief and Mr. Robber Man
Only if you stole it, first. So I corrected your signature.
And your option is...?
Personally, I'd like to know if the deletion that results from turning off Location Services results in slower response time when you turn it back on. Does turning it back on give you a sufficient download from the mothership to get you up and running again quickly?
Now that's a good question.

I voted positive.
This is real news so page 1 makes sense.
This is of interest to far more people than some news items, as many people shift purchases from November and December to black Friday to take advantage of the paultry 10% savings. Some people are just cheap.
Let's not forget the MacBook C2D and MacBookPro 17 C2D and Shuffle are at the beginning of their --available-- product cycles, so some people might have only shifted buying a couple of weeks on those items.
I doubt Apple will release sales figures so we can judge, but one thing is for sure. This black friday practice of Apple is widely known, there are for more stores now, and far more new, recent, and exciting products it applies to than ever before.
I suggest it just might rock!

This is kind of rough. Shame it's heading this way.
Think about it. If MS Office is too large to sell through the App Store, then Apple avoids the dubious situation where it needs to offer the award to Microsoft. :)

Too bad you cannot scare the snot out of the kid, on camera.
Shows up with camera crew...
"Microsoft Prize patrol, do you have an XBox 360? Can you show it to me"
Types stuff into handheld...
"Do you own this machine?"
Types stuff into handheld...
"Oh, sorry ... you cannot collect a prize with this XBox 360 -- the serial number has it listed as a murder weapon, and the owner is a likely suspect."
I like it. Think I'll try it tomorrow. :-)

Perhaps but they are not competing right now on either products or road maps.
You don't change vendor like the wind blows.
IBM and Motorola? :)
It's nice for Apple to have the bargaining chip when dealing with Intel. I agree they're unlikely to follow up on it (if there's any substance at all....which is seriously doubt).

You can't charge your batteries that way either, at least nowhere near full. ;)
Regenerative braking is a small supplement at best. Yes, every bit helps, but currently the best diesel cars meet or exceed hybrid fuel economy and their carbon footprint is arguably no worse.
My opinion is that parallel hybrids are a technological dead end in the long term. Series hybrids might be part of the long term plan for stretching our fossil fuels but even those are not a -solution- to the problem. The solution is going to be either (in order of probability) biodiesel, hydrogen-powered cars or full electrics backed by a totally renewable power generation infrastructure.]
I would argue that hybrids are a long term solution.More so plug in hybrids I think are a longer term solution. It allows people to charge for their daily stuff at home. Then for longer trips you have an on board generator of some type to continue to charge the batteries.
So if that best diseal was a hybrid it would have even a longer range and better gas mileage.

Umm, that's still less than 1%. That's pretty good. That would be out of 100 million calls. 99 million calls were fine.
Not to mention the thousands and thousands of people purposely replicating the issue to show others how it can drop a call. I wonder how many dropped calls were during normal use. I know i've replicated it a few times but have dropped 1 call since launch. And that was in an area with sh***y reception.

I think it could be real. Apple seems to be trying to get away from plastic in their more pretentious, pro-level products. I can see the high-end iPhone being this, with an aluminum body, and the low end $99 model becoming the plastic 3GS. (Similar to the plastic MacBook Consumer model and aluminum MacBook Pro arrangement). They also banned screen protectors and seem to insist don't need anything to protect your iPhone... the metal back would appear more durable. Some people have also been clamoring for a return to original 2G iPhone looks. Maybe they found a way to route cell reception through the front so they can fry our brains even further (creating more Apple zealot zombies in the process).

I really hope the Zune becomes a real competitor and threat to Ipod. I am sick of apple sitting on their ass and giving us minimal improvements to the ipod. I want a wide screen, good battery life, THIN and sleek and sturdy. I will not buy a zune but I hope this pushes apple to bring us the goddamn widescreen ipod.

So much for the freedom of being open
- carriers adding crapware by default
- carriers blocking certain apps
- carriers preventing you from updating to the latest OS (or if you are lucky only delay it for a long time)
- android was the only mobile platform where the remote wipe had to be used once for 'bad' apps
.... yep, way to go Android - open is good (for carriers, not the user) :D
Exactly. They are not smart enough to realize it's 'open' to the carriers, not the end users.
Oh, and that Google is tracking them in almost real time.

It's a bit deeper then that though, he says
******* the police that's how we treat 'em
we buy our way out of jail, but we can't buy freedom
He's not just saying F the police just because they're the police.
Yeah....in case it wasn't obvious just by listening to the song, he's *criticizing* this view point (******* the police) not endorsing it. But I think if people listen to the song that's actually pretty obvious. That entire song is about the frailty and inability of the gangsta' image to make black people feel good about themselves, not an endorsement of that image.
