Thursday was a hot one at HSM. Though mother nature threatened a downpour early in the day, it held up until later in the nighttime. The sun was out and bright with very few clouds hovering above.
Alex stopped by in his red Mazdaspeed 3 to finally fit his new MB wheels on. He chose to run Sumitomo tires instead of the Hankook tires he had previously wanted. The setup is extremely aggressive, with much of the outer edge of the wheel sticking out from the sidewall of the 215 width tires.
When lowered enough, this would allow the tire to tuck into the fender well creating a 'flush' look. It all wasn't a completely easy thing to do as the car's rear fenders had to be rolled to keep the fender from digging into the tire while driving. Even with them rolled, Alex needs to next have his rear camber arms installed to fully be able to 'slam' the car thanks to more negative camber.

Poke, slammed, or whatever you'd call it, Alex's MS3 has a classy stance.
The wheels have an excellent contrasting color on the bright red MS3, and catch your attention immediately. This wheel fitment may not be for everyone, as it takes a truly careful driver to avoid all the ruts and imperfections Connecticut's roads offer. All in all, the wheel and tire setup were a great choice and definitely give the Mazdaspeed a new look. The car will definitely be a head-turner and a great car to attract enthusiasts to Alex's company, CTStance.
When Alex's car was finished, Hugh set out to making a new, custom front splitter for the #999 BMW as the old one on it had seen better days. The previous splitter had been run for more than a year and the BMW deserved a new and improved piece. Using the finest materials available, Hugh fabricated a brilliant, lightweight splitter that will sure improve the car's front downforce at the next race at Pocono in mid July.
Stay Tuned for the next post!
