I disagree with the "unless it pays money", not all paying jobs will be good for your portfolio. What you put on your portfolio will limit jobs you can or cannot get the next time around.

Then don't put it in the portfolio. If all you can do is one thing at a time, then yes a hole will appear. If you're a freelancer, you will NOT BE BLAMED for a company's evil doings. If you ARE blamed, you don't know how to pitch yourself.

Now picture this, you walk into a very nice office overlooking Sydney Harbor the lobby is paved in stirling silver fixtures while the floor is imported Italian marble, you go into the boardroom for the meeting the table is made of Japanese Maple while there a some very nice high backed leather seats to sit on.

Never send a boy to do a man's job. Or, in other words, recognize the difference between yourself and what you're getting into. If you can't tell, then sayings such as, "in hindsight," will be in your future.

You meet the manager, he assures you that whatever you're charging it wont be an issue paying, you then go into the project.

Now most people hearing that would say "awesome take the job" but in hindsight the organisation politically was not a good company to deal with because it cannibalised the industry in 2001 and had very poor standing with other players. The other players would NEVER take on a person associated with this company due to the bad blood. I am not going to name the company but it was extremely hard to find work having that on a portfolio not to mention leaving it off ran the risk of having a hole on my CV.

Read: UP FRONT. Bedazzled for the maple table and view of the Meiji-jingu is just that - bedazzled. The problem was your lack of experience. **BUT** that would only be held against you if you couldn't EXPLAIN it. Now if you're talking about getting more work in Japan itself, then you'd better qualify your answers as such, because that is a different business culture.

What I am saying is taking the money you need to see how that will look on your CV. I now work for one of the largest media companies in Australia as a CD and the best advice I can give is you need to see how your work can limit or expand you career horizons.
If you're in a position to pick-and-choose, then either (a) you already know yourself, your talent, your work, and you are NOT the kind of person who the OP is, or (b) you need to go through the fire AND know how to learn from and explain mistakes.

think what you want ... this is not going to court for a prosecutor ... this is an illegal eBay listing and will be resolved by eBay and PayPal ... can you stand that?

YES! EXACTLY! If you have read this entire thread than you know that I only posted to respond to someone that said he should be going to jail. Read my post above...I have no problem with the seller being adjudicated by eBay!!

I've got a 80GB HD from a PC I parted out. It's a Hitachi Deskstar, 7200rpm SATA drive. It's got a warranty on it until April of but I don't know if it's transferable.

Lemme know what you're willing to pay for it.

I predict a long career in politics. The perfect combination of wit, wisdom and lack of morals. Ready to screw someone in an instant, and deny doing it.

Protectors and cars mounts as well. I have done a lot of research online but am interested in hearing what other poeple say - not just the search engines.

Here is something I didn't consider when thinking about a MBA, does it have a protective glass front over the panel to protect it? Say, from sneezing fits?

Geez kind of happy that I held off on updating to 4.3.1. I usually update as soon as a JB is out but I was kind of lazy this time. Seems there are alot of bugs.

1) Never work with a friend of a friend.
2) Never work for free.
3) Never work for a start up business UNLESS it has a larger group behind it (Public/private equity group, blue chip client with a new business, etc.. is ok).
4) Never do work for a religious organisation (seriously not a good idea). Or for that matter a union...
5) If you lie with dogs you'll get fleas. Never work on a project you wouldn't want other clients seeing as a client of yours on your Portfolio.
6) Never work with a company where they can't speak your native language... Cheque time comes and "miso soli me no undastandy".
7) Be choosy about who you want to work with. Talented designers will always find work while talentless designers wont.

[8] I found in experience if you price yourself a certain way you tend to loose the "bottom feeding clients" as I like to call them. It also means the people who take up the service generally understand the price positioning thus have an idea of intrinsic value assigned to it.

My advice as a designer - CUT & RUN!

There will be other clients to replace this a-hole.
Hi. Thanks for the support. The only good thing about the whole experience is that it's served as kind of a wake up call for me, regarding how I want to handle pricing and clients in the future. :)

There was someone griping on MR the other day that Steve never seems to reply from anything but his iPhone. Well here it is, he replied from his iPad!

So there, Steve does use other products!

So basically Apple will still have the crummy Maps.app on iOS 5.0

Not necessarily, as the article says, Apple posted a job for Maps in 2009.

I wonder, assuming this device ever does come out, could/would apple release two versions (CDMA and quad GSM) and then let you select which carrier's software to download to the phone (either at home, on the online order page, or in the store)? This would be far simpler than having either a just-gsm or just-CDMA phone and more cost effective than a dual radio version on which you choose which carrier/radio to use (which I believe was suggested earlier in the thread)...

That way, Apple could continue to sell the product through their own their rather huge network of stores and online. They could also have two versions, a "pro" (treo/HTC/Blackberry-esque QWERTY device w/ MS office integration and Mail/Outlook e-mail push) and a "consumer" (music-centric, smaller, no QWERTY), in keeping witht he rest of their lineup of products. Just a thought.

12 petabytes? That doesn't seem like too much, actually. that's 1GB of storage for 12 million customers

I think it is being used to hold media content, not for cloud backup type purposes for individual customers
